Contents 1) Setting up the USB function (for the EIZO FlexScan F67/T68/FX-D7/TX-D7/E67F/E67T monitor and the i-Station) 2) Setting up the "ScreenManager Pro for USB" 3) Update History 4) How to update ============================================================================= 1) Setting up the USB function (for the EIZO FlexScan F67/T68/FX-D7/TX-D7/E67F/E67T monitor and the i-Station) ============================================================================= NOTE: To utilize the USB hub function, the following system environment is required. * USB compliant PC or another USB hub connected to the USB compliant PC * OS (Windows 98) * EIZO USB cable (MD-C93) Monitor USB function setup (1) Copy the downloaded files into the floppy disk and insert the disk into the floppy disk drive. (2) When using the i-Station, connect the serial port of the i-Station to the maintenance port of the monitor with the EIZO maintenance port cable (MD-C94). NOTE  When using a model which does not have a maintenance port or not using "ScreenManager Pro for USB", procedure (2) does not need to be done. (3) Connect the upstream port of the monitor (or the i-Station) to the downstream port of the USB compliant PC or another hub using the EIZO USB cable (MD-C93). (4) "EIZO USB Hub" appears on the screen. Insert the Windows 98 CD-ROM and click "OK" in the "Insert Disk" window. Follow the instruction of the window. NOTE If the step (2) is skipped, the USB function setup is completed here. (5) After the setup of the USB Hub, "Add New Hardware Wizard" window appears on the screen, and "Unknown Device" is detected. (6) Click the "Next" button. (7) Select the "Search for the best driver for your device (recommend)" button, and click the "Next" button. (8) Select the "Floppy disk drivers" and click the "Next" button. (9) "EIZO USB Monitor" appears on the screen. Follow the instruction of the window. Once the above operation is completed, the monitor (or the i-Station) functions as a USB hub and the USB compliant peripherals can be connected to the downstream ports of the monitor. Confirmation of USB setup Please make sure the proper installation is completed by following the confirmation below. (1) Click the "Start" button and open the "Control Panel" from the "Settings". (2) Select and double click the "System" from the "Control Panel" to open the "System Properties". (3) Confirm if the followings are in the "Device Manager" window: * "EIZO USB Hub" and "EIZO USB Monitor" appear under "Universal serial bus controller". The two points indicated that the settings were properly installed. If the step (2) is skipped, the "EIZO USB Monitor" is not appeared. ============================================================================= 2) Setting up the "ScreenManager Pro for USB" ============================================================================= NOTE  Please install this program after the above setup (USB function setup) has been completed.  "ScreenManager Pro for USB" cannot be used with the following environment. * EIZO LCD display monitors * i-Station with any model which does not have a maintenance port. ScreenManager Pro for USB is the utility for adjusting the display from the PC using the mouse or keyboard through the USB interface. This utility has the following features: (1) Some unique adjustment functions which are not supported with the ScreenManager are available. (2) Easier adjustment via a mouse and a GUI application. (3) An adjustment menu with grids can be displayed for the accurate screen adjustment. (Two method to adjust are available.) (4) Adjustment data (screen data, color data) can be stored in the PC for latter use. Installation procedure (1) Download the "ScreenManager Pro for USB for Windows 98" and copy the extracted files into the floppy disk and insert the disk into the floppy disk drive. (2) Execute the "setup.exe" program in the floppy disk. (3) Follow the procedure displayed on the screen. (4) When the setup is completed, click the "Advanced" button at the "Settings" tab of "Display Properties" to see "EIZO" tab is added there. The monitor control function is available. NOTE • The functionality differs with each monitor. Some functions may not be available to use with some monitors. Note when updating Windows 95 to Windows 98 When updating the system from Windows 95 to Windows 98, setup the Screen Manager Pro for USB software as follows: (1) Start Windows 98 with connecting display with PC by the USB cable. (2) Select "Add/Remove Programs" from the Control Panel and select "Install/Uninstall" tab. (3) Select "ScreenManager Pro for USB" as an uninstall program and click "Add/Remove.." button. (4) After removing the program, follow the messages and restart Windows 98. (5) When Windows 98 starts, select "System" from the Control Panel and select "Device Manager" tab. (6) Select "EIZO USB Monitor" under the "Universal serial bus controller" in the device list and click "Properties". (7) Select "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver.." button. (8) Click "Next" button in the "Update Device Driver Wizard" menu. (9) Select "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now." and click "Next" button. (10) Insert the floppy disk containing the ScreenManager Pro for USB for Windows 98 into the floppy disk drive. (11) Select "Floppy disk drives" and click "Next" button. (12) Finish Updating the driver following the messages. (13) Remove the floppy disk and restart Windows 98. (14) Insert the floppy disk containing the "ScreenManager Pro for USB for Windows 98" into the floppy disk drive. (15) Double click "setup.exe" in the floppy disk and install the ScreenManager Pro for USB following the messages. ============================================================================= 3) Update History ============================================================================= V1.01 : The following problem with V1.00 driver has been fixed; After finish setting up the USB function on WIndows 98, click "Start" button on the tool-bar and select "Shut Down". Then select "Stand by" and click "OK" button. The computer will go into the "Stand by" mode. (With some computers which do not support "Stand by" mode, "Stand by" can not be selected.) Then move mouse to activate the system, however the system can not be recovered from the "Stand by" mode. ============================================================================= 4) How to update ============================================================================= (1) Start Windows 98 with connecting display with PC by the USB cable. (2) Click "Start" button and click "Control Panel" from the "Settings". (3) Double click "System" from the "Control Panel". (4) Select "Device Manager" in the "System Properties". (5) Double click "Universal serial bus controller" from the displayed device list. (6) Double click "EIZO USB Monitor" displayed under the "Universal serial bus controller". (7) Select "Driver" in the "EIZO USB Monitor Properties". (8) Click "Update Driver" button. (9) "Update Device Driver Wizard" menu is displayed, then click "Next" button. (10) Mark "Search for a better driver than the one your device is using now" and click "Next" button. (11) Select "Floppy disk drives" as a target drive and insert the driver diskette into the floppy disk drive then click "Next" button. (12) "Windows driver file search for the driver: EIZO USB Monitor" is displayed then click "Next" button. (13) "EIZO USB Monitor Windows has finished installing an updated driver for your hardware device." is displayed then click "Finish" button. (14) Remove the driver diskette from the floppy disk drive and restart the computer following the displayed messages. Update confirmation (1) Click "Start" button and click "Control Panel" from the "Settings". (2) Double click "System" from the "Control Panel". (4) Select "Device Manager" in the "System Properties". (5) Double click "Universal serial bus controller" from the displayed device list. (6) Double click "EIZO USB Monitor" displayed under the "Universal serial bus controller". (7) Select "Driver" in the "EIZO USB Monitor Properties". (8) Click "Driver File Details.." button. (9) Check that the driver version is displayed as "File version: 1.01.0000".
